The Dune HouseA coastal kind of stay
Sea oats and the boardwalk at sunset

Visit

Getting here is
half the slowing down.

Fort Morgan Road runs west until the road, and the hurry, run out. We're near the end of it.

Getting here

The quiet end of the peninsula.

About 1 hour 15 from Pensacola airport and 1 hour 45 from Mobile. The last twenty miles are one road, two lanes, and a lot of sky.

Head for Gulf ShoresFrom either airport, aim for Highway 59 south until it ends at the beach.
Turn right onto Fort Morgan RoadHighway 180 west. Pass the state park, the pier, and the last gas station.
Keep goingAbout 18 miles. When the condos stop and the dunes start, you're close.
Look for the white house with the long boardwalkCovered parking is on the left. The key code arrives the morning of your stay.

The area

A day, well spent.

No itinerary required. Just a few good possibilities, a short drive or a barefoot walk away.

2 min walk

The boardwalk beach

Your stretch of sand. Wide, quiet, and usually empty before nine.

12 min drive

Fort Morgan

A 19th-century fort with ramparts to climb and a ferry that crosses the bay.

8 min drive

Tacky Jacks

Dockside dinner, boat traffic, and the kind of sunset that gets applause.

15 min drive

Gulf Shores farmers market

Saturday mornings. Peaches in summer, satsumas in winter, bread year-round.

25 min drive

Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo

Small, shady, and walkable in an hour. The sloth is the main event.

20 min drive

Bon Secour refuge

Trails through dunes and maritime forest, ending at a beach with nobody on it.

30 min drive

Gulf State Park pier

Rent a rod, watch the pelicans work, and walk out over the water at golden hour.

In the house

The game shelf

Puzzles, cards, a record player, and a shelf of paperbacks left by past guests.

10 min drive

Sassy Bass

Fried shrimp, cold drinks, and sand still on your feet. Nobody minds.

House rules

A few kind asks.

Mostly common sense, written down so nobody has to guess.

Check-in and check-out+

Check-in is 4pm, check-out is 10am. Early arrivals and late departures are sometimes possible in the off-season, and you can add early check-in on the planner.

Dogs+

Up to two well-behaved dogs for a flat $75 per stay. There's an outdoor shower for sandy paws, a fenced side yard, and a jar of treats by the door.

Quiet hours+

10pm to 8am. The neighbors are close, the walls are not thick, and the surf is better background noise anyway.

Sand, salt, and the outdoor shower+

Rinse off at the outdoor shower before heading in. Beach gear lives in the storage closet beside it. Please leave the dunes alone; the sea oats are holding the beach together.

Cancellations and storms+

Full refund up to 30 days before arrival; 50% up to 14 days. Named-storm evacuation orders get a full refund, no questions asked.

Smoking and parties+

No smoking inside or on the porch. Gatherings are welcome up to the house's sleeping capacity; bigger than that, give us a call first.
